Architectural accessibility
Main Building of AGH University of Krakow — A-0
al. Adama Mickiewicza 30, 30-059 Kraków, Poland
Entrance to the building
The main entrance is located from al. Mickiewicza 30. There are 7 steps at the entrance, therefore this entrance is not accessible for wheelchair users.
The accessible entrance for wheelchair users is located at the back of the building, from the northern courtyard. Access to the building is provided by a lift. Intercoms are located at the entrance to and exit from the courtyard, allowing contact with the porter's lodge when the gate is closed.
The porter's lodge is not directly accessible for people with mobility disabilities because there is no step-free access between level -1 and the porter's lodge, or between level 0 and the porter's lodge.
Corridors, stairs and lifts
Corridors allow free movement and there are no level differences on them. Access to the entire basement level and part of the low ground floor is limited.
The stairs do not have special facilities for people with disabilities. The exception is the access route to rooms 380–383, where a platform lift has been installed.
The building has 3 passenger lifts:
- two internal lifts measuring 1.1 × 1.3 m, serving floors from level -1 to the 3rd floor, partially adapted to the needs of people with disabilities,
- one external lift from the northern courtyard, serving the ground level and floors from level -1 to the 2nd floor.
The lifts have voice announcements and Braille markings.
Toilets, Main Hall and parking
There are two toilets for people with disabilities in the building — on the first and third floors.
The AGH Main Hall is equipped with an FM assistive listening system.
In the internal car park, on the side of the entrance with the lift, there is a parking space for people with disabilities. Access to the car park is from ul. Reymonta 7 through the Main Gate. A barrier, intercom and service point are located at the entrance.
Communication and information accessibility
Assistance dogs are allowed in AGH buildings.
Persons who need to use a Polish Sign Language interpreter on site or online should contact the AGH Accessibility Department. The information point is open from 10:00 to 14:00. The service is free of charge for deaf and hard-of-hearing people.
